Hi, I’m Gavin Maitland. I am an archivist and independent researcher/writer. I am currently the archivist for the Electric Palace in Harwich – the worlds oldest, least-altered Cinema. I have previously worked in archives for the Victoria and Albert Museum, Christies and Barnardo’s. I hold Masters degrees from the Photo History Research Centre at DeMontfort University in Leicester and Archival Studies at Glasgow University.
I continute to write and present at conferences on the History of Photography and Archives and I am currently offering my services as an Archive Consultant through the National Archives, Archives Revealed program. If you wish to speak to me about writing a Scoping Report or anything else related to archives, then please have a look at my Consultancy page.
